Dance Competition

Dance competitions will be held within the powwow this year. Trained judges will be evaluating each dancer as he competes in his respective style, judging on various criteria. The key is to be yourself. Competition is meant to give you feedback on how you’re doing and to help you improve. For most of us, this is a borrowed culture we are participating in, and the last thing we want to do is misrepresent it. This will be great practice if you plan to compete at conclave. You may not know this, but Zach Kaufman, a member of our section, placed in the top 10 for fancy dance at both NOAC 2006 and NOAC 2009; competing could raise your chances of doing the same.  So, grab your bells and put on your mocs, we’re going to have us a powwow!
